On the one hand I'm very excited about that as Christmas is my favourite time of the year. On the other hand, life just seems to be moving waaaaay to quickly and it would be great to step out of the fast lane for a little while.
Although I wasn't able to officially join in for Friday Night With Friends (FNFW) last Friday (I was too busy looking after sick family members and preparing for a rent inspection) I did actually get a chance to do a little quilting during the day.
I have been slowly working on my quilt for Ashleigh (Miss A). The pieced middle portion of the quilt top was complete and I have been cutting and preparing the fabrics for the 3 borders. I cut and joined all of the fabric strips on the diagonal, only to realise that this looked terrible for the 2nd border, a fabric containing large prints and stripes.
Luckily I bought extra fabric to make sure we had enough to fussy cut the full border. After lots of measuring, re-measuring, cutting and careful stitching I managed to fix the border strips and still have a little fabric left over.
Looks much better don't you think? Of course, I wasted a lot of fabric too but I salvaged what I could by cutting it into 2", 2.5" and 3.5" squares ready to use for a scrap quilt one day.
Over the rest of the weekend I also managed to stitch on the first border. Not bad given that I won't be able to do any more for at least a couple of weeks.
If you'd like to see what everyone else got up to for FNWF you can visit Cheryl's blog for the links. I hope you managed to sneak in a little quilting/stitching/crafting time over the weekend too.
Have a great week.
Cheers, Tracy
