Tuesday Treasures with Melody

I am excited today to be participating for the first time in Melody's Tuesday Treasures. I think it's a great idea to reflect on the things in our life that we are grateful for. If you would like to join in you can find the link on Melody's blog.

My Tuesday Treasure this week is my Gran. She is a wonderful, gentle lady who gave me one of my earliest crafting experiences...she taught me how to crochet when I was 11. I can't for the life of me remember how to crochet now but I would love to relearn.

Gran has a very strong religious faith so I decided to make her a cross-stitch of Psalm 104:24 for her 80th birthday. Although I had very good intentions it actually took me 10 years to complete the cross stitch so I well and truly missed my deadline! I did however complete it, frame it and give it to her 2 years ago.

The pattern came from one of Donna Kooler's books (sorry, can't remember the name) and was designed by Nancy Rossi. The kit can still be purchased on Donna's website.

Thanks very much to all of you who have visited and followed my blog, and for your warm welcome to blog land. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Until next time,
Tracy

Creature Comfort

My niece recently moved to boarding school and has been feeling a bit homesick so I decided to make her a little friend to keep her company when she is missing home. She loves owls and I had recently found a pattern called 'Who Knew!' by Susie C Shore Designs at Carols of Midland which I thought would be perfect.

I raided my boxes of fabric that I have been collecting since my kids were little and found some lovely bright colours. This was the result...

My niece loved her new friend and I was very happy with how it turned out too. We have decided the next time she comes to visit for the weekend this would be a great project to do together. Luckily I have plenty of fabric stashed away for just such an occasion!

Until next time, happy crafting!

Taking the Plunge!

My good friend Tracee from Quilt Kitty Loves Life has been blogging for over a year now and has inspired me to get technologically savvy and start my own blog. This is pretty scary stuff, particularly when she is so good at it! However, I am 'jumping off the deep end' and am quite excited about doing so.

I have lived most of my life in the Pilbara in the North West of Western Australia. While my family and I are currently living in Perth for the kids schooling, I consider the Pilbara to be home. Hence the beautiful picture above, taken on a day trip out of Marble Bar in July 2011, and the gorgeous photo of the Sturt Desert Pea to the left, one of my favourite flowers. I hope to share some of my other outback images with you during our journey together.

As you may have determined from the title of my blog I am a (proud) craftaholic! I have tried various crafts over the years including embroidery, beading, scrapbooking (I was a Creative Memories Consultant for 8 years), teddy bears, soft toys/dolls and, more recently, quilting. My favourite is embroidery but I am really enjoying learning how to quilt. My partner in crime is my Mum and I love nothing more than spending an afternoon, evening or (even better) a weekend crafting with her. She is also learning quilting at present. This can get quite expensive when shopping for fabrics as we egg each other on!

Anyway, enough of my rambling for now. I hope that you find my stories of interest and I look forward to 'meeting' you all in the blogosphere.

Cheers,
Tracy
